I have a pretty complex situation that I could use some advice on.

I landend in Canada as a landed Immigrant in 1998. I stayed 'till 2002 and then moved back to Belgium with my family. My father stayed behind and is currently a canadian citizen.
Over the years my brother, sister and I have been to visit him on numerous occasions.
Problems started with the introduction of the etA. It then became clear to us that we all still have the permanent resident status. We don't have a PR card or the residency obligations recquired.

My sister has since renounced her PR status and acquired an etA to visit our father.

I am a bit reluctant to do this because my husband and I have an intrest in Canada and consider immigrating there in the future.
I'm scared that renouncing my status now will mean I will not be able to obtain it again later, or it will be more difficult.

I think that to visit my father again I will have to fly to the USA and have him come and get us there?

If ever I want to live in Canada again, I don't know what the best way to go is. My husband will still have to apply for immigration.

You will have to take your chances at the land border to enter Canada. If the border officer did not report you, then stay in Canada for straight 2 years before renew your PR card or 3 years to get the Canadian citizenship.

You can also renounce your PR and have your husband to add you in his immigration application if he qualifies.
