My wife's from the US. We were legally married in the US last year but decided to move to Canada (I'm Canadian) as the health care over there was too expensive. Anyways, as Canada and the US have a Visa Waiver program she's been here since November with me and we're now working on the sponsorship process. I'm at an impasse with Part C - Question 6 a) and b)

Her current registered address is her address back in the US, but she's here with me. So for A) should I put her US address down despite her being here, and if I put the Canadian address down instead, for B) do I select NO (she hasn't been here for one year, but selecting no also makes it sound like she's not here legally, which she is). Any advice?

Not sure what question you're referring to. IMM1344 is for the sponsor to fill in, not the applicant. It's perfectly fine to put Canadian address down in the app if that's where she intends to be during the processing.

As a US citizen, she should definitely NOT apply inland. Much better/quicker to do an OUTLAND app which would be processed in CPC-Ottawa. Most US citizens get PR status in 6+ months with an outland app, vs 2+ years with an inland app. During the processing time she can continue to extend her visitor status in Canada as often as needed, as it approaches expiry date.

Oh, so it's okay for us to do the outland application while she's here in Canada? How would we go about extending the visitor status erstwhile? Sorry, it's all been a bit overwhelming!

She has 2 options:
1. Exit and re-enter Canada, upon which she'll most likely be given a fresh 6 months.
2. Apply while in Canada to extend stay using this form and paying the $100 fee: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visitor.asp
