my parents are divorced and i haven't contacted neither of them since i was 20. im 28 now living in japan trying to fill out the 5540 form.
what do i do about the father and mother info??! :(

I think that you could maybe write a letter explaining the situation and write please refer to letter but you can ask seniors and see what they think I could be wrong...

Well for mine, I don't have my father's address as I have never had contact with him. I put his name and his birthday as I knew that from my mom. In the address box I put "Unknown, no contact" I would do that and like the other member said, write a small explaination as an extra about the situation since it involves both parents.

I didn't know my parents address or even three of my siblings addresses, but just put the country they lived in and put unknown and my application was approved.

MandiF, when you put "unknown" in the spots on the form, did you include a letter explaining why? I'm in the same situation where my sibs are concerned.

I know the question wasn't addressed to me, but I put Unknown - no contact. I didn't write a letter and I have been fine. I called and asked about this and CIC- said it's fine as well. I agree though, put as much info as possible, like if you know the country, birthday dates ect. The letter doesn't hurt if there are alot of family members.

nylalisa, thanks so much for your response. I'm trying not to stress too much about this process, having been through this for my husband when he immigrated to the U.S. - a VERY stressful process indeed!

Sorry for the delay in replying, but no, I didn't include this family issue in my letter, it wasn't about my family, but about me and my husband, and it was accepted and I recieved PPR quite quickly.
