Hi everyone

okay so my wife (she's a Canadian citizen) is sponsoring me from Pakistan. In form 5490 I need to know the following:

Q3 says did anyone introduce you to your sponsor? do they mean during the first meeting did someone introduce us, or do they mean did someone first introduce us when we first made contact? and if the person who introduced us was my mother do I write that her relationship with my spouse as 'mother in law'?

Q11 would it be better to mention my closest family (like parents and brothers) or mention my uncles and neighbors? also they only offer 5 slots to write in so would it be better (for the case) to write extra on another sheet or will these 5 be enough?

Q17 My marriage was more or less arranged by parents, but there wasn't a specific date of the arrangement. Would the day we were engaged be more befitting (because that was the day we made up our minds) or would it be more befitting to write the actual date of the marriage?

Q25 it's only been one month since she went back to Canada so I obviously haven't visited her>>>though it's killing me :'(<<< (Anyways I don't have a visitors visa and I'm working night duties at RAS and can't get time off) . She lived with me for three months, what should I write for why I haven't visited her?

and what would be good evidence? Pictures of the wedding, honeymoon, and random outings. emails and our skype convos? what else would be good evidence? We only use calling cards on the phones and those one don't have records available. I remember reading something about getting testimonials from people stating that they testify to your marriage, how important is that and how would i go about doing it?

DESPERATELY awaiting your reply. I just have to get my medical done and then it's off with the forms!

thanks in advance

no really, this worry is giving me a migraine

How did you first meet or come into contact with the woman who is now your wife? If your mother introduced you, put down 'mother-in-law' in the 'relationship to your spouse' part. If you first contacted your wife by phone or email or on the internet, put whoever 'introduced' you. I would explain this part if it was on the internet.

I would write more on another sheet. Definitely put the closest relatives first, then more distant relatives, then close friends. You could also go in chronological order. If there are a huge number, you can explain that you have met many more people than this, and have just given the names of the closest.
Q17 My marriage was more or less arranged by parents, but there wasn't a specific date of the arrangement. Would the day we were engaged be more befitting (because that was the day we made up our minds) or would it be more befitting to write the actual date of the marriage?
Say 'yes' the marriage was arranged. If the arrangements took place over several days or weeks, just attach a separate sheet and explain this. The 'day the marriage was arranged' does not mean the day you got married.

Explain why as you did here. However, the question says 'during the length of the relationship, so since you have lived with her for 3 months, mention that here as well.

Photos are good proof: lots of photos of the engagement, wedding, and honeymoon, but also photos of the two of you meeting family and friends, and going out together. Try to get photos that show how many guests you had at the wedding, unless you have a guest list. Any other proof of communication is good: email, Skype records, etc. Phone cards aren't good evidence unless you can get a record of the calls from the phone company. So just explain that you used phone cards and so can't get those records (try getting them though). Also show proof of your visits with each other: plane tickets, boarding passes, hotel receipts, etc. You can get family and friends to write support letters stating that they know the two of you are in a genuine relationship. These letterscan be affidavits (the best evidence), letters, or even just emails. The writer should include his or her contact details - CIC does not usually check, but including the contact details makes it look more authentic.

Thanks Pal, you're awesome ;D Now let's just pray everything goes well.
