Foreign work experience and unrelated degree

Lets say I had one year of foreign experience as a programmer, but I have some unrelated foreign degree (art). Should I explain that I am actually self taught? Or it will make things more complicated bc its pretty obvious that there are some self taught programmers w/o relevant degrees in the industry?
