Need a new WP.
If their PR application is in process and they are laid off, and then they secure a new job offer within three months (which is fairly quick), does that mean they would still have to wait an additional four months(work permit processing time) before obtaining a new closed work permit to work for the new employer?

This would create a seven-month gap in their employment.

I’m concerned about how their PR application could be affected during this seven-month gap, and whether it might be canceled. (seems very likely)

They wouldn’t be able to work. Yes this could have an impact on the PNP process but up to each province

What do you guys think Is there any chance to get PR in this situation? whereas the company lays off employees without any notice.
Hi Sandeep I have a similar situation . What’s your status and if we don’t get a new work permit do we apply for visitor visa ?

What stage are you at and what stream did you apply under? I'm in somewhat of the same situation with the only difference being i have an open work permit.

If you applied for a close work permit, then using the method mentioned in the link below, you have the option to apply for work authorisation.

I am still waiting for my PR process; however, I am able to secure a new job and have retained my SINP nomination.

HI Everyone, Recently one of incident happened with my friend whom came in Alberta in a closed work permit and got terminated from the job without any cause. She landed just 10 days ago and it was just a week that she started to work. Getting termination from job without any cause, fault and notice put her completely shocked. She already got her provincial Nomination Certificate when she was outside Canada and her permanent application was filed before she came to Canada. Her biometrics and medical was also done. She did her application through Rural Renewal Stream. What should she do now and whether her Permanent application will continue or stop? Can she apply for open work permit if Yes which government section should she contact?

There must be more to this story because except in incredibly rare situations the employer would have been aware they no longer needed the employee 10 days ago. How exactly did they obtain this job offer? If her PR application was conditional on the job offer she has to contact IRCC then she no longer qualifies and must inform IRCC/rural renewal stream. She may be given the opportunity to find a new employer/job offer.
