Hi Friends

I am waiting for my passport with PR VISA and planning to flagpole at peace arch white rock Vancouver.

I was just wondering whether I can do flag poling with my child who is a Canadian citizen but we did not for her passport. When we go to US side whether they will ask passport for my child?. will they accept Canadian birth certificate instead of passport.

It would be a great help if someone could answer and share their experience.

Thanks

You should have the passport. The advantage in being a Canadian citizen is that your child does not need a visa to enter US.

I agree that she doesn't not need a VISA. But does she need a passport as identification?. She now only have Birth certificate.

Thanks

yeah, that's why it is called passport, u can't pass without one. so get one for s/he :)

Flagpoling is generally considered crossing an international border - as such, your child will need a passport.

Might be easier to hire a babysitter if the passport isn't ready in time for your landing :)

Thanks friends. I will apply for passport. If it doesnt arrive on time i will hire a baby sitter :). Good Idea.

Thanks

If you child is younger then 15 years, s/he can use the Birth Certificate to cross the border. Passport is not mandatory. See below links:

It's probably the best idea, as your baby doesn't need to land! :)
