Add some fun to the forum while we wait to become Citizen....

The first thing I will do it to visit USA. I had lived there few years and I miss the shopping there...

How about you?

Assume that you will first thank your luck, family, God and will apply for a Canadian passport, surrender existing Passport, yada yada yada... What will be the first thing you will do after it?

ALL WRONG!!!
First thing to do after becoming a citizen, is to get a passport. 8)

For me, I will take my family for big dinner treat :) :) :)
and of course pray for God

So you never pray if you don't get the citizenship? And seldom have family dinner too? ;)
You know what, it's just a license to vote and visa waiver, everything else tastes the same. For me, I'll do nothing, just like usual. Maybe what make sense to do, is to invest in Canada after you got the citizenship. For example, you can now buy a house because you already have roots in this country, or expand your business, etc. I think for plan to go to other countries, has nothing to do with citizenship. Because as a PR, you can also go to USA or anywhere. The world's visa is $$$. If you have $$$, basically you can go anywhere you want.

Lol I'll book around the world air tickets. :P

Take the earliest flight out of Canada and find a country to settle where you don't have to pay high taxes, inflated service cost, inflated price for shelter, food, clothes and only come back to Canada when you are ready to retire. I love socialism!

Not everyone has a visa exempt passport. Hence for them, getting a Canadian passport opens the door to a lot of travel opportunity

I heard people after getting Canadian passport opt for green card for USA. I don't understand after having a citizenship why people want to opt for green card. why not from start just go to USA instead coming to Canada.

Vote in your first election on Oct 27! if you are a Toronto resident ..

Voting is the only special right bestowed with your Citizenship..all other things you can do anytime and only elections do happen once in a while!!! So cast your vote first fresh and excited!

It is easier for people to get into Canada first and then use it as a path to get into the USA.

It is the old "Canada as a stepping stone to the USA" technique. Once you get a Canadian citizenship, you qualify under NAFTA and it is easy to get a TN visa to hop over to the US to work and immigrate.

This is very common. That's why CIC looks suspiciously at non-American applicants who travel or are on a work visa (non TN) in the US while they were PR (risk for RQ). And also why they added that "intent to reside" clause in C-24. Canadians get really irritated when they feel Canada is being used to get to the USA.
