Hi,

I've got the following score:

speaking 7.5
reading 6.5
writing and listening 6 each

However, unfortunately on the IELTS result, the first language says Hindi. Does this mean that I'll be eligible for 16 points max? As it says on CIC website...? Kindly help...!

Thanks.

I dont understand your question. Could you quote what on the CIC website you mean?

No, I don't think it matters at all.

Among all the people who give IELTS for immigration purpose, most have their native (first) language different from English (except for some native English speakers).

So, it is fine to have first language as Hindi. That was the exact reason IELTS test result is sought by CIC, to make sure people who don't have first language as English also know English at a reasonably good level.

And for those scores, you will get 19 points, not 16.

Regards

Yes he is right. thats the requirement of british council to tell the mif english is not your first lang. As far as CIC is concerned, they have asked if English or French is your first language. Lets suppose, french is your first language in home country than you need to have required scores (as specified on CIC website) to get points and optional is then english test (if u give, u will get extra 4 points).

Yes you get 19. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp

Now you have juxtaposed your scores. They don't look the same as in your first post. These latest would fetch you 18 points.
