My husband's FBI clearance was expired by 5-6 days when CIC received my application. He got another set done but now SOMEHOW we can't find them anymore.

I am stressing that we don't get them done in time before they request them again - when they request them do they require them within a short time frame? What are the chances that they will see no record on the expired ones and not request a new record?

IF they even notice that his clearance was a couple of DAYS beyond it's date (which is certainly quite possible) CIC will send a sternly worded letter about getting your PCC to them within some amount of time, but as long as you advise them when you sent the request they won't close out your file for lack of it. They KNOW it takes a long time to get those letters, and yet they terrorize people by telling them to get the letters to them in less time than it takes to get them.

It is worth doing them now, though, so that if they do ask for them (probably 3+ months after the file gets to Ottawa/LA) you have a copy to send to them. A form of cheap insurance.

CSIS is going to check on him anyway and they have full access to the US records, so it really doesn't matter, but CIC is all about the process, for sure!

Good luck.

you should get new ones just in case! it only took a month to get them for me and I think that's about the time it's taking nowadays, I don't know why, may be it's not a busy season? but it doesn't cost too much (compared to other things)
