Fingerprinting - Local Police Dept or Private business?

This post is for those who applied under FSW from the U.S.:

which did you prefer to have your fingerprinting? Local Police Dept or from Private fingerprinting center?

Print the form from FBI website, take it to the local police department. They will take your fingerprints, then you can send it to FBI.
It took me 1 week to get report from FBI.

Did you do this recently? where are you located now? I'm in Los Angeles, California.

Yes I did it in April. I had my fingerprints taken by the local police department. Then I sent them to FBI by fast mail. They sent the report within 2 weeks after I sent it to them. It's easier that it seems to be.

Local Sherrifs office charged me $10 / person for any number of copies. They took the fingerprints electronically and just printed it out on all my PCC forms. When I checked at the local UPS store, they said they would charge $13 / card. Whooo... i just saved $30.
