If they are asking for fingerprints they are going to do a background check--there is no way that they have made a decision before they get the results of your fingerprints

yes i know they will check the background ... but if the background is okay is this means that they will give you the visa ?
because the make people pay for the fingerprint .

there are specific country for that.

HI I have been called for fingerprint while I applied to renew my visa while I am in Canada. how am I suppose to get my fingerprint done? I recieved a message from cic stating that I need to do fingerprint donein visa office!! :'( :'(I am from Iran and student here in canad since 2011.I know from December/2013 I need fingerprint for entery but not for renewal

Hi ngoma,

It depends on you citizenship, after Dec 11,2013 the citizens of more than 80 countries need to do fingerprint (Biometric) for their visa.

so when you are applying online or through VFS they wont process your application until you get your fingerprint done.

So it is mandatory for each application and requesting that doesn't mean for sure you will get your visa.

What if I am student inside Canada and they are asking for biometric check. it dosent make sense to do my finger print outside of canada while I am in canada as student

persons applying for an extension of status "in Canada" don't have to have the biometrics. Although CIC may ask for fingerprints. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/biometrics.asp

you are from one of the countries or territory above, you do not need to give your biometrics to visit Canada if you are:

under 14 years old or 80 years old and over (if you are close to your 80th birthday, read important information about where you can give your biometrics),
a diplomat, consular officer, representative, or official of:
a country,
the United Nations or any of its agencies,
any intergovernmental organization that Canada is a member of,

and you are travelling to Canada on official business (any family members travelling with you are also exempt),
applying for a visa to transit through Canada for less than 48 hours, directly to or from the United States and you hold a valid United States entry visa, or
already in Canada and are eligible to apply for a visitor (temporary resident) visa, study permit or work permit to an office in Canada.

tx boysocout, i had a query regarding finger printing. If I do finger printing from outside canada and then wait for 15-20 days for the courier to re-open (so that i can send the fingerprints to canadian agency), do you think the time gap would create an issue? Please let me know dear
