Fingerprint requested, how to submit

I just got FP request today, I have seen horror stories of FP records getting lost in the mail when RCMP sends them via snail-mail, can I get the results and send them registered myself? What do you suggest?
Also, which one is faster? RCMP directly or accredited centers?

I had absolutely no problem using an accredited centre. It's about the same time, regardless of the method used.
It's just as easy to let RCMP send the results direct to IRCC.
