BZMom--> in my case, i think CGA will honor my experience in pinas pero out of 3 years experience reqmt, 1 year ay dapat dito sa Canada and it must be in a senior level accounting position, if i'm not mistaken. so if ever, naipasa ko ang exams ng CGA after I comply with the course requirements, medyo malayong CGA na ako unless I land a job at a mid-senior level position. naku! ang dami ko pang alikabok na sisinghutin pag nagkataon before I can use the designation.

About CA, di na nila ako ni-require ng experience. they honored my experience sa pinas, as in 3 years tlga binigay nila sa akin, so di ko na problema CATO.

Ruga---> you can try PNP

Good luck to us all and God bless!

If your experience is more on Internal Audit (Financial, Compliance, IT), would it still be advisable to take CGA, CA, CMA or just take the CIA and CISA exams?

Thanks

hi Mimi0713 - congrats.

I think it is still an advantage if you will be taking CGA, CA or CMA. a lot of job postings are requiring these certifications. also, if you will be applying for internal audit roles, plus factor yung CGA, CA & CMA - mas maganda kung angat ka as compared with other candidates.

Hello. First time ko po sa forum na to and I find it very helpful especially for us who have plans of migrating to Canada. I'm also CPA in the Phils and planning to migrate next month sa Vancouver. I'm quite scared kasi may nababasa ko na mahirap maghanap ng work mg accountants. I've been working as an accountant for almost 10 years and currently I'm a Financial Reporting Manager in a german pharma company. Pano po ba maghanap ng work jan? Can you submit your resume in companies and mag walk in na lang ba or should it be done online? Please advise. Sana po may taga Burnaby and Vancouver po sa inyo. Thanks.

charlie5-->tnx! I think 4-6 weeks waiting period if you appeal. I'm not so sure.

pfcastelo-->sigfrid is right. if you're still there in the phils. you can try working on the CGA designation kasi balita ko they have a good program which just started like 3 months ago. para pag andito ka na, kunti na lang kukunin mo. You can backread for the info or search on google to be sure.

hello any news sa mga nagpaassess sa cga kung talagang onti nalng ang tatakeupin mong subjects as an effect of CGA-philippines "talks".

sa mga nasa pinas pa po... ang nabasa ko po ay ang CGA ay on its "pilot project" so selected lang muna yung makukuha. in any case dapat PICPA member ka. at if ever na hindi ka makapagexam(CGA) sa PI edi dito ka nalng mageexam ofcourse (hoping, mapapatunayan natin yan) with lesser subjects just like in the phils. meron kasi akong frend recently lang ata cya nagpassess( fresh grad sa pinas. fresh CPA din then lipad agad sa canada).. ayun 6 subjects nalang daw ang kukunin nya... i cant find an article for filipino CPA residing in Canada already, hope my theory is correct.

Help please!
Hiningan ako ni CGA ng Notarized copy of Board Results issued by PRC. Need daw nila for my request for transfer of credit.
Ano ba yon? Yun ba yung grades? Wala kase ako non e. Di ako nakatangap ng original.

Hi Guyz,

Kamusta kayo? Tagal ko ng di nakabisita dito.

Nways, roll call muna.

@ Mimi: Congrats! Idol talaga kita. Super uber sa sipag. Gusto pang magpart time sa Tim Hortons. ;D ;D ;D

Usually "CIA, CISA an asset" ang nakalagay.

@ Katherine_elaine: Ako nagsasubmit lang ako online. I know of someone naman na sinusuyod ang downtown. Kanya2 sigurong style lang. Just remember, "the more entries you send, the more chances of winninng"! ;D :p ;D

@ Everyone: (FYI lang sa di pa nakakaalam) There is currently talks between the three accounting bodies (CA, CGA and CMA) for a merger. CGA/CA/CMA-Quebec has already filed recommendations to the provincial government for the unification. The other provinces are already doing surveys to their members. End result daw eventually will be CPA-CANADA! Lets just see how it unfolds.

Ingat po palagi and God bless us all!

To the others - I hope okay lahat.

Thanks Isarog for your feedback.

Usually ba mas marami opportunities ng December and January. I was advise by a friend na mas marami daw kasi job openings ng December & January that's why I decided to land in Canada by December 3. I hope tama decision ko.

I hope you could share your experience in finding an accounting job. Sa Vancouver ka rin ba or in Ontario?

Thanks once again for those who are always sharing their experiences and providing advice here in this forum.

Your welcome Charlie and katherine_elaine. HTH

Naks! ??? :'( Yun nga lang wala namang tumatawag. ??? :( Tsaka, from what I'm reading, syempre your resume needs to stand out from the 100s of other candidates in that particular vacancy.

As of now, may temp/contractual job na pero di sya related sa accounting. More on back office sya (siguro yung parang ginagawa sa Pinas or SG na BPO). Almost minimum ang sweldo ko, pero over sa dami ang work. Hangang leeg. Waaah..Honestly, I am feeling down right now. Ok lang siguro kahit marami work basta well compensated di ba? ;D Kaso lang the amount is not enough to cover for the bills. Remember the days noong staff accountant/audit staff pa lang tayo sa Pinas and the salary was almost minimum din? Ganun ako ngayon but now with kids and no parents to support me. Back to zero po talaga. So ang ending, nababawasan yung baon. And the worst part about it is that sa dami ng inaaplyan ko, 3 pa lang yung tumatawag. :( :( :( That po is my reality.

I am still questioning myself if I had made the right decision. If I should just go back sa Pinas and call it quits while there is still time or just stay here..Hopefully things will get better.

Good luck sa atin and God bless us all! :)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I know it's always difficult for starters in a foreign land. I've been to a foreign country and it's a fact that opportunities to land in the same line of work is rare, so I had to downgrade for over a year to survive, otherwise I'd be in big trouble. Eventually, proper jobs went in handy after that. We Filipinos are strong enough to prove we are capable of what others could do wherever we are in the world. So do keep the faith that in His perfect timing, He will lead you to the proper job. After all, God has 'allowed' you to move to CA, that's more than enough blessing. Just keep going and for sure you will appreciate every step of the way up. :D

isarog,

wag ka na mag-senti at madami na tayo, hehe. dumaan tlaga ako sa point na yan. first time ko na super busy switching between 2 jobs, studies and responsibilities as wife, as in iyak ako ng iyak for almost 1 week. kahit sa bus or subway. I can't help thinking how better my life was back in the phils. husband ko busy rin switching between 2 jobs, as in wala na kaming time for each other and for ourselves.

kasi part-time lng accounting work ko, di pwedeng asahan kaya i need to find another part time job, kaya ayun, lumagpak sa pagiging kahera sa loblaw. sobrang takot ko tlaga kasi i'm not used to handling cold cash, sanay ako sa multi-million currency pero sa FS lng, hehe. windang ako pag nagbilang ng cold cash plus, di ko pa kabisado coins dito coz i'm using cards all the time. isa pa, my inferiority complex pa ako sa mga ibat-ibang lahi dito. takot ako sa customer, meron pa naman sobrang demanding. kaya before i report sa loblaw eh, i really prayed a lot.

hopefully things will get better this winter. kasi di ba year-end, FS prep time na. sana nga lang. wag ka ng umuwi. kasi nakapagstart ka na. meron ako na met sa ACCESS one time, CPA mag 6 months na ala pa ring work. buti ka pa nga kasi kahit paano eh full time naman yata work mo. i'm working in a filipino company na may restaurant, one time nag advertise sila for dishwasher position, ayun may nurse jan sa atin na nag apply dito. sabi ko, pwede ako na lng?????????????????? ;D ;D ;D ;D

God bless us all,

God bless us all,

Keep the Faith, God Bless.
