I entered Canada in the last week of December in 2019 and made a refugee claim in January 2020. Do I have to file taxes for the year 2019 although I was physically present in Canada for just one week in 2019?

Note that I was working prior to coming to Canada.

Yes you do have to file taxes for the time you have been in Canada even if it is a week. Let a professional tax office do it for you. Probably won't cost you anything and you won't get anything back but you still have to file it.

You may have had to. Not everyone does.

its good to file your tax. it is plus point that you file more tax years . your lucky you were here for a week in 2019.

Filing taxes when you were in Canada for a week will give you no real benefit. Not sure why you consider this lucky.
