Hi guys! I just need some clarification regarding this.

I have worked in Canada from July 2011 to September 2012 and had to return back home (Philippines). I don't know when I'm going to come back in Canada specifically. I know that the deadline for tax submission is in the end of April, if not mistaken.

Now, my question is do I have to be there in Toronto, Canada to file my tax refund or can I assign somebody to this for me?

Thanks. :)

No, you don't need to be in Canada. Just hire an accountant to help you.

you can also file online using UFILE, TurboTax or other related software. To do this, you need to register an account to CRA and they will send the password to you. (not sure if they also send it if you're currently not in Canada). You may want to visit this site for more detail.

Hope it helps!

Hello,

You also mentioned that you worked "July 2011 to September 2012". This means you need to file twice if you haven't done already.

For July 2011 - December 2011 you need to file income tax return for 2011 and for Jan 2012 to Sept 2012 this needs to be done by the end of this April as you said.

You need two applications for different years, by other words you can NOT mix two tax years into one application.

Hope this be helpful.
