I'm a Filipino man, living in the Philippines. My husband filed a divorce but i want to contest it. Her reason is we live separately for more that a year. Yeah that's physically but we have communications still for 8 months. My last communications with my wife is just 4 months. Can I avail a free legal aid in the Canada even I'm a Filipino? I don't agree with my wife thay she filed a divorce. And my tourist visa application is on going. Does this affect also my tourist visa even all expenses will be my own.

She ignored all my calls and messages. Even I'm ready to reconcile with my wife.

No, you can't get free legal aid in Canada. You would need to hire a lawyer. It will cost you many thousands of dollars.

It won't affect the TRV app.

Thank you very very much. For the info.
Note that she can file for the divorce and get the divorce approved even if you don't agree.

What if I contest it. or file a claim?
Contest what? File a claim for what? If she wants to divorce you - she can. That's her right and it's relatively easy to do this now that you've lived apart for a year. You can't force her to stay married to you.

As I said, the divorce will go through regardless. If you can't afford an annulment, then you certainly couldn't afford to take legal action in Canada.

We know that. This doesn't change the fact that she can divorce you in Canada and that divorce will be recognized by Canada as fully legal.

If you want to stop her from going through with the divorce in Canada, the only option is to convince HER to withdraw the divorce petition. You can't stop the divorce.
