File in Interview Queue

Dears and/or madams! I have applied for PR to Canada through family sponsorship program in Nov 2012. After a while, they sent my sponsor a letter stating the documents were transferred to the nearest Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya for further processing. After waiting for more than 5 months, I've got an email saying, "The file is still in interview queue." What does it mean? If they are telling me that I have to be interviewed for some inconsistency, how long will it take to get interviewed?

Any person faced the same experience, I hope, it helps me. I would like to hear it from your mouth.

It means that they have questions and they want answers. Order you GCAS notes and it will tell you what they want more information on. Prepare more proof of your relationship and that it is ongoing.

many thanks for giving your friendly information. The other important question I would like to ask is is it possible to withdraw the file from the interview queue? I mean, as I sent the document very urgently, I didn't include some important documents like, Police Certificate, the pictures we took with my spouse previously, etc. So, is there a way to reconsider the file of my application for reprocess if I send the rest of the documents by withdrawing from the queue?

So, do they reconsider my application for the passed phase if I send the rest of the documents by withdrawing from the queue?

I don't think you can withdraw from the queue, if they want an interview then they will interview you. Just be sure to bring the extra documents with you when you go to your interview.

May you show your timeline please? I am also at the same VO with you. With us we included even little detail for them to approve our file and we were approved now waiting for a visa as per last letter we received.

Happy reading from you all as we are in similar situation. Am also waiting for the interview date to be fixed since May 2013 up to now.
Me and my husband we provided enough information to prove that our marriage is geniune but i wonder why they are not fixing the date for interview. With the long waiting, we are getting impatient due to the long distance between us and cannot wait to be reunited together again.
Any help is welcome on what we can do to go through the interview successfully.
My timeline is like this
Application sent - 20th Feb 2013
Mississauga approved -12th March 2013
Nairobi Received -20th March 2013
Request for more documents - 9th April 2013
Documents sent - 12th April 2013
File waiting Interviews - 2nd May 2013

You can always send additional documents to the Visa Office if you feel you forgot to add them when you submitted the application. If your application was missing a required document in your original submission, then they would have returned the whole package to you. Police clearance is a required document but it is not a document that shows whether your relationship is genuine or not.

After you send them the pictures, chat history/ phone history (e-mails, skype records, phone cards, cell phone statements etc.), you send them as additional supporting documents. (Make sure to write the file number and the UCI number of the applicant as a cover page and on outside of the envelope you sent). I do not suggest that you mention anything about the interview as this may raise suspicion. It is up-to them whether they may waive the interview at any point in the future. You can't request to withdraw. do not do that. After they put you in a interview queue, they may remove you from the queue (again that may not happen) if they think they want to.

Reason interviews can take so long:

If you reside in a country outside the VO you've applied to. (Example, you live in Switzerland and apply through Paris VO), the IO processing your case must schedule a trip to travel to your home country to interview you. Normally, they only make 1-2 trips per year to a certain country. If they only make 1 trip to Switzerland per year and you applied right after that trip, then you have to wait until the next year.

Also, there is the possibility your security checks aren't finished. That is why the VO isn't scheduling you. Before you say anything, the VO does not control security checks. They make the request to the foreign government for the check. Some foreign governments take a very long time to respond (I've heard some over 2 years). CIC and your VO cannot control how long it takes a foreign government to reply.

Lastly, an interview is only called if they doubt the relationship is genuine. You may think you supplied plenty of proof, but the IO (who sees hundreds of immigration cases) obviously doesn't feel the same way. Before you get upset about this, yes it is their job to judge the genuiness of a relationship, including yours. That is part of spousal sponsorship - you must prove your relationship is genuine. You should order your notes, as suggested, and review interview questions to prepare.
