Hello all
PR since 2016
Went back home to get married to a syrian lady (not east to get tourism visas world wide)
Heard that to apply for PR for her it take almost a year;
1-Is that correct( almost a year?
2-Can he apply for a tourism visa using the marriage certificate as a supporting document till she comes and convert it to PR ?
3-Would he apply for PR for her first or tourism visa first? (Because we heard that active PR application may cause a tourism visa rejection)
Thankss

1. it takes about 12 months -- sometimes less sometimes more.. no one can say as each case is difference
2. she can apply for a temporary resident visa, however she will have to show very strong ties to her country, money in the bank, proof of returning to her county, etc (i suggest you look up the requirements). you cannot convert a visa from one type to the other
3. depending on the proofs sent, it would be wise to apply for a TRV PRIOR as many who apply after applying are rejected

..and do you think that a marriage certificate would help in the transient visa or it will show that she will stay in canada ?

It will do quite the opposite. Once you are married to a Canadian PR, it becomes very hard to prove strong ties to your home country as marriage is probably one of the strongest ties in IRCCs view.

If she is Syrian she won’t get a TRV. Yes the wait will be around a year but chances are it could be longer given the instability in the region and difficulty communicating with governments in the area. Nothing will speed up acceptance for example pregnancy. People are under the false impression that Canada would never separate couples for the birth of a child. Happens all the time. The best thing would to be to submit the sponsorship application as soon as possible.

Would add that this marriage seems to have come right after your divorce. There is a high chance that a relationship interview will be required before sponsorship is approved. Assume there is a high chance this was an arranged marriage

Wow
Seems to be complicated
So you guys think that TRV has high possibility of rejection?
Sponsorship will take a year or more
Correct?

No, not complicated at all.
Yes, there is a very high probability that a TRV will be rejected. She is from Syria (as stated above not the most stable place) and is married to a PR
Yes. Sponsorship takes approximately 12 months, likely more in your case due to your recent divorce and your wife's being in Syria (takes time for background checks)

TRVs are unlikely from Syria because you have to prove that you have strong ties to return to your home country. Given the situation in Syria, the high rate of asylum seekers from Syria and the fact that she is married to a PR the chances she will return after a vacation in Syria are extremely low if not zero. If she doesn’t live in Syria it will be even harder because if you don’t live in Syria it is really hard to show that you will return there. To get a TRV while married to a PR you would likely need longterm well paying employment, previous international travel to countries similar to Canada that require visas, have pretty decent savings level and perhaps own property. Yes expect at least a 12 months sponsorship process. There is also a high likelihood an interview will be required before approval which usually delays approval.
