hi all
1)m recent international graduate and m waitin for pgwp,,,,wondering if working on off campus would count for cec?

2) does our pay stub shows our working title or benefits or we can mention it when we file for pr on reference by employer.

3)m working as office coordinator and gettin $12hr,,,,is $12 enough coz minimum pay in this occupation is $13.

1) Only work experience after you graduate counts for CEC.

2) When the time comes to apply, get your employer to list your job title and duties and they should more or less match the job duties of the NOC you are applying under.

3) I do not know if the pay is a problem. Is this your NOC: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/Profile.aspx?val=1&val1=1221 If this is your NOC, it is a skilled NOC. If this is not your NOC and some other NOC fits your job duties better, you have to make sure it is considered a skilled NOC also.

I think what Vbomb meant was that "office assistant" sounds like a low-skilled occupation, and therefore the work experience will not qualify for CEC. For CEC, your post-graduation work experience must be skilled, NOC level O, A, or B.

The NOC that Leon posted is skilled.

But "office assistant" could also be:

1411 General Office Clerk

Or see also 1413 or 1414 ... if it is one of those (starts with 14xx), then it is Skill Level C and the experience will not count for CEC. That's why Vbomb suggested looking for another (skilled) job...

OK, if you mean "office coordinator" is a supervisory position, then it is a "skilled" position.

1. Don't know, don't think so, even tho you have already graduated. I think it is safer to count the work experience from the time you receive the PGWP.

2. Job title, wages and benefits must be specified in the Letter of Employment from your employer. See the document checklist for more details. Paystubs are not required.

3. Don't know, not a big difference between $12 or $13, but that wage does not say "Skilled employment" to me. If there is any doubt about your NOC, this will not help; if there is no doubt, it probably will not matter. But now that you've graduated, you might want to ask your employer for a raise.

Hi Leon, yes, I'm aware of this, rate of pay is not a good yardstick. There are a lot of jobs that are equally "skilled" that are classified as C level, too It will be interesting to see the pending NOC revisions...

I haven't researched the occupation (still not sure what it is), and don't know the location, but the OP stated that $13 was the minimum (not average) wage. Currently, HRSDC (not necessarily CIC) is looking to ensure that foreigners are paid the average wage. It sounds like the OP started as a student worker, tho, and that sounds like a student wage (that's what UG students are paid on my campus); s/he could possibly re-negotiate with degree in hand...

Why pay a foreigner more than a Canadian? If you want to keep a valued employee, foreigner or Canadian doesn't matter; if it costs more to train a new employee; etc. Of course some employers don't care, presumably the turnover in that case doesn't hurt the bottom line...

i kinda confused about the cec and thinking about the pnp ontario which is more friendly to the international students....
international student can have minimum wage rate in skilled occupation rather than prevailing wage rates for the foreign workerss,,,.ma employer is capable to meet their requirements,,

yikes... Wage is NOT one of the selection criteria for CEC. It is merely one of the tools available to cross-check whether or not someone is doing the job they claim to be doing.

Ontario PNP is a good option too, if you can afford the extra $1,500 application fee, the extra processing time, and the risk that your job offer is still valid at the end of the processing period...

...and actually, you can do both.
