Hi guys,

My wife is sponsoring me. I currently live in Canada with her. We are applying OUTLAND.

I don't have any children or dependents.

Can someone tell me how much I should pay in total?

I was on the website and the fees list was confusing to me

Should I pay $75 for my sponsors fee and $475 for me as the applicant

Is the total feed I owe $550?

This is what it show me:

----------------------

Family Class applicants – Fees

Application $CAN

Sponsorship application (per application) $75

Principal applicant (spouse, common-law or conjugal
partner, or other family member) $475

Principal applicant, if under 19 years of age and not a spouse or common-law partner
(including a dependent child of the sponsor, a child to be adopted and an orphaned brother,
sister, niece, nephew or grandchild) $75

Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner of the principal applicant or, where a transitional
provision applies, a family member of the principal applicant who is 22 years of age or older $550

A family member of the principal applicant who is under 19 years of age or a family member of the
principal applicant 19 years of age or older who has been unable to be financially self-supporting since
before the age of 19, due to a physical or mental condition $150

Where a transitional provision applies, a family member of the principal applicant who:
is under 22 years of age, unmarried and not in a common-law relationship, or
is 22 years of age or older and has been unable to be financially self-supporting since
before the age of 22, due to a physical or mental condition
$150

550. The 475 for PA and 75 for the sponsorship application.

You can also pay the Right of Permanent Residency Fee (RPRF) which is in another section on the 'pay your fees' page. That is $490. They can ask you to pay that anytime until they are ready to issue. If they don't have that, they won't issue until you pay it.

Thanks so much

You are aces!

Do you think if I pay Right of Permanent Residency Fee (RPRF) it will save me some time?

Do you recommend paying it upfront?

Thanks

Np.

It could save time, in that they won't have to ask for it and hold up your application in the end stages. It does get returned to you if the application fails. But will it slow their processing down if unpaid -- unsure. I have noticed that there is a greater velocity through cases for 2016, and those who have been sped up did pre-pay. I cannot say that the ones who haven't been sped up didn't pay.

For me, I paid it upfront. That way, we don't have that one more thing to worry about. But the choices is yours entirely.

Thanks again

I wish you every type of success and a speedy road to becoming a Canadian :)

Likewise -- but I was born Canadian ;)

If you do not expect any additional document requests, and especially if the PA is from a visa-exempt country, I would highly suggest paying the RPRF upfront.

We did not pay it and although it was submitted immediately upon request (along with a couple other documents), we've been waiting 36 days since they asked for it... not that I'm counting, lol! Our application was received May 31, yet there was recently an app through Ottawa submitted in late June that has already received CoPR; they confirmed everything was submitted/paid for upfront, including RPRF. It seems that apps that are complete with RPRF paid process quickly, at least for CPC Ottawa.

I didn't want to say yes it would without concrete proof... but the appearance is definitely speeds it up a bit. Also, I think they like to process those cases first, as they recover the costs of processing applications from the RPRF. So, financially it also makes sense...

Thanks for helping me with this

What does PA stand for?

Yeah definitely - we can never really say 'for sure', but based on my own experience and watching the spreadsheets/forums, it definitely seems to speed things up. Also, when they email prompting for early RPRF payment as part of their bulk email it does say "to avoid processing delays".

Ok...you guys have convinced me.

I will pay the RPRF upfront

Do I just add that fee and pay it all at the same time online, along with my PA's fee and sponsors fee?

Yeah if it will let you. If not, do a separate transaction and provide both transaction receipts when you file (and save a pdf of them... so you have them in case)
