Hi all

I am a little anxious as I have to finalize my papers. Can anyone guide me about lawyer fees for spouse sponsorship in Toronto and GTA?

Thanks.

you can do it yourself....i filed my spousal papers myself....one of my colleagues he paid $500 for the application

well, it depends on the situation..
if it is a complicated matter, or if you are having problems with the application, then you can consult an experienced lawyer.

My wife and I contacted a few agents in China to get some information. They said they would help us to complete the application for the low, low price of USD$6,000! That's just to help with the paperwork...no legal advice or anything...so, we decided to use them to get more information on some questions we had, but held off paying them a dime...in the end, we got the answers to our questions for free and did it all ourselves (with the help of members here).

Trust me, you don't need a lawyer or agent...it's all pretty easy to do...certain sections of the different forms may be confusing, but this forum is great and you can get all your answers here...for FREE!

I think that's right you should do it at your own or find some good one for this otherwise it can be too costly for you, like 5oo$ is too much.

When I started to file my papers last year i had two quotations from two different lawyers: 6,000 to 7,000$. Our case is pretty straightforward, so I decided to do them by myself. So, if you have a straight case, do the papers yourself; if your case is complicated, then hire a lawyer, or go through a consultat, which might be cheaper. It is entirely up to you to choose and to spend/loose money.
Goodluck.

A cost-saving way to get professional help is to find a consultant that will review your file after it is complete. This is different from their full service, as you will have to gather all your information and prepare the application yourself, and they will not "represent" you. What they will do is go through your completed application package and give you their expert opinion, recommend any changes, etc. The fee for this is usually comparatively low, only a couple hundred dollars compared to a few thousand for full service. However, if you know truthfully that your case is complicated, it is worth spending the lawyer fees now - try to find one that includes appeal represention in their fee if possible.
