Not sure if anyone of other US based applicants have experienced this...

My passport arrived in Ottawa Oct 23rd for Visa stamping. I gave it between 17 - 20 days that's been the current timeline. After I saw that people that shipped their passports October 29th have gotten their passport back I decided to investigate. What I found was

1 - Passport picked up by FedEx on NOv 10th to ship back to me (18days - within the 17 -20 day timeline)

2- Since it is being shipped to the US, it was inspected by customs and was missing paperwork - "commercial paper"

3. Long story short, my passport has been returned to Ottawa as at today as it was rejected by customs and didn't ever cross in into the US. They confirmed it has been signed for by someone in Ottawa at 11:28am this morning

Has anyone experienced this. Frustrating part is...I cannot call Ottawa. No outside US phone. I am emailing them tonight BUT is there a way I can resolve this missing paper work issue ? To me, it sounds like Ottawa did not do their job, didn't fill out all the shipment paper

here's what the FEdex tracking reads today.

Anyone with this experience ? What did you do ?

Customs paperwork for both ways has to be filled out by the person initiating the shipment to Ottawa i.e. you. CIC inserts the form(s) pertinent to the shipment back from Ottawa--again, the form(s) that you would have completed and included along with the return mailer.

Did you fill out the customs form for both ways?

I did not fill out for both ways. The man at the fedex told me i did not need the form coming back and i kept asking him if he was so sure until he got an attitude about it. Do you know how I can fix this ?

Therein lies the problem.

I recommend you do the following; more experienced forum members may have other/better advice.

1) Overnight to the same address where you sent your passports a set of completed customs forms & a pre-paid return mailer along with a letter of explanation.

2) Write to the email address provided in your PPR letter to explain the issue and also state that you have overnighted a complete set of forms and a return mailer.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

Done the above exactly, package should arrive at Ottawa tomorrow.
