Hi All

I recently got my COPR under federal express entry program (application submitted - Nov 2019).

My bf also has his application in process since Oct 2019 but he has not received COPR or decision on his application. Both of us plan to get married soon and move to Canada but were hoping to have his PR to avoid processing delays with change in marital status.

Knowing the delays in application processing due to covid, is it recommended that I try for spousal application or should we wait for decision on his Express entry application? Or is there any other alternative that we have in our current situation?

Are you living together or separately? If together, how long?

We were not living together when we filed our applications. We just started living together few weeks back but we are not married yet and are still considered single for tax and all other purposes.

Right now you can't travel to Canada anyway (even with an approved COPR) due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

I would have your bf order his GCMS notes to see if he can sort out where his application stands and then make a decision. GCMS notes will take around a month to arrive.

By the time you are allowed to travel it's quite possible your bf's COPR will be approved.
