How do you know that the appilcation is in background check process ?

It changed on July 27 and now it says : "we are processing your background check"

We (Taiwan applicant) just received our COPR in the mail from Hong Kong visa office on Sept 4, and went straight to US border to complete the landing. Applicant was in Canada on holiday as a visitor. Application is finally complete! Thank you everyone for being so helpful here all year.

Here's our timeline, took about 7 months in total. Hope some of you find it useful:

Sponsorship approval (SA): 02/22/2017
ECAS PR Application Status 'In Process': 03/13/2017

Landing: 09/04/2017

Edit: We didn't receive a passport request and got the COPR immediately. Apparently this is the case for countries with visa exempt status to Canada.

Usually it doesn't change until and unless they have any update. Mine is saying Decision Made in ECAS and at other hand it shows "we are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements" - just like you.

Mine is New Delhi
I thought it will change so was waiting but now I got worried seeing others to receiving PPR.

I've been waiting over 2 weeks now since my ecas status changed to DM, still no PPR. My sponsor got an email a couple of days after saying my file is being processed in Mississauga, my VO at AOR2 was Ottawa. @canadiantica15 had said that they are in a similar situation and their notes indicated that the file would have to go back to VO for PPR.

Hey everyone,

I'm here to update my situation and seek advice.
A few days ago, the MP's office called me to inform me that the background declaration was not sent to them since February 22nd, they've also sent a reminder in April but my agent did not respond.
As far as I know, the agent informed me of the background declaration late February and told me that he already sent it. He also sent me a confirmation letter to show receipt. I forwarded it, along with a filled background declaration form to the MP, who will in turn, forward it to ADVO.

What really hurts is that I've previously emailed my agent multiple times to check the status of my application. He ignored me all times.

What can I do now? Whether its ADVO's fault or the agents? I feel so helpless having time stolen from my life and hers. What can I do to verify who's fault it was? What can I do if it was either side's fault?

Here is where I am at. What are all your thoughts?
Visa Office and AOR2: April 12th. Ottawa.
Background check in progress: August 9th.
Request for additional documents (a driving history for a state my husband has never resided in and completely unnecessary): September 8th
Documents submitted on webform: September 10th. Confirmation received on September 11th.
Letter from CIC on September 12th informing me that the Application for Permanent Residence for your
relative(s) will be processed at CPC Mississauga.

Why did they send me the last one? Are they so confused and such a mess they just assume I'm a new app and send it all the Miss? Or are they now sending my whole app back to Miss? I'm so frustrated and so over how much of a shit show this immigration system is. Does every area of government have to be so drastically flawed?

this happened for us not getting our medical request till Aug. then after many letters, webform, etc, I called and noticed they had sent our medical request to a wrong email address( one wrong alphabet in my email.)
you wont need to wait for your medical request. Pricinciple applicant can go and get his/her medical done whenever, without a letter.) after we went and did the test, one day after that it updated on our online file and showed medical passed. Be careful for not wasting your time like us.

You must have done your test back in January, when they were still accepting upfront medicals.
Now, you can't get a medical test done until immigration sends you a special form.
