I have seen about 4 threads of you on the same question. And the response remains the same: they want to interview your spouse to ensure the relationship is genuine. Gather all evidence about your relationship, especially ongoing communication between you two. Good luck.

Hi all,

I'm living out of Canada.
I'm getting a work permit, but I'm in the process of having the job confirmed.
I could also ask for a Family Class Sponsorship from soon-to-be-wife.

Is there any reason I should submit apply first for the WP or for the permanent residence?

I've been told that if I apply first for the permanent residence and then for the work permit, it could look bad. What do you think?

Best!

In order to sponsor your wife, you first have to be a permanent resident or citizen.

SA means soonsorship approval - where the sponsor is approved to sponsor the spouse. You might find this thread on spouse/common-law sponsorship helpful:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/spousal-sponsorship-t46995.0.html

If you are looking to sponsor your sponsor your partner as common-law, here is the link to CIC for outland sponsorship:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp#immigrate
Don't forget the instructions in the country specific guide as well.

Guys just a quick question,

when paying the fees under family sponsorship there are two options which shows up:

Spouse in Family Class in Canada
Spouse in Family Class outside Canada

Which one would I use? Mine is an outland application, does that mean 2nd option?

Write N/A for any form that is not applicable to you.

And so the game begins! Application is for my US Citizen wife.

Sent in PR application on Feb 8, received confirmation of delivery Feb 9th.

I just realized that I sent in our application with FBI clearance from May 2015 and I read that the clearance needs to be no older than 6 months. What is the best strategy? Should we get a new FBI check for her and send it in?

Thanks !

Hello to all of you!

Our Application is being dropped off by our Representative tomorrow!
I know December people are almost half way through their Sponsor Approvals. Hopefully this means we will get ours by the end of March/ beginning of April!

Fingers Crossed!

I am going to try and put a spread sheet together, only problem is I can't share links on this website since i'm still a newbie :(

I would send a new one! I know processing times for FBI records are 13 weeks right now, what my husband and I did, we just submitted our application to CIC with a letter saying we requested the FBI record (including proof) and that we will get it to CIC as soon as we get it.
The good thing is that they only need the FBI prints AFTER you get your Sponsor Approval, so you should have about 2 months time before they actually need them.

Hope that helped
