Hi there, my husband and I just got married March 7, 2013 and registered for our marriage certificate ASAP (rush service, etc) to complete the entirety of our inland spousal sponsorship application. This being said, we are out of our minds nervous because we still haven't received it as of today (March 14) and my FBI clearance report expires March 21st. We plan on dropping the application off personally in Vegreville next week to ensure it gets there by the 21st if we do get it in time-will this work?
Also, if we don't receive the marriage certificate before the 21st (after FBI report expires)-can we send in our inland application without it without it being delayed? Then ill get a new set of prints and get another clearance report to send off, I realize this may take 6+ weeks, BUT I've heard they won't need the report until after spouse is approved?
Any thoughts!
Thanks a million all!

Hello

There is always a possibility that they will require an updated version, especially when it's borderline like yours ( assuming you got this is on March 2012 ) so having it delivered by March 20th, 2013 doesn't necessarily end it all. So you can try to submit it but I would get another set of results handy just in case

Thanks user 828-I'm confused by your March 2012 comment though? I received my FBI clearance December 21, 2012-so it then expires March 21st 2013 correct? I'll get a new set of prints just in case... but it won't delay processing so long as the newer set makes it before start of applicant approval/stage 2 approval correct?

FBI is good for 6 months and as far as I know, CIC considers it for 1 year ( happened in our case so far as well )

Unless you mean the 3 month receive period

A police clearence should not be more than 3 months old from the date the application is filed.
We filed our application with about 1-2 days left in the 3 months for the FBI report. We just applied for another, then sent it along to the VO after sponsorship appproval when we had an ID number.

The FBI report has a "Search Date". CIC asks for that search date not to be older than 90 days by the time they receive your application. However, if older, you can still send it with the application and you should order a new one and sent it later. That is exactly what we did. We did not anticipate certain road blocks so our FBI report was 5 months old at the time we sent our application (FBI search was done Feb 2012 and we applied in July 2012). We sent an updated one on the first days of February 2013. We were requested addtional documents that same week (we believe they didn't even have the most updated FBI report in their files yet) and we were not asked to provide a new report from the FBI at all. Again, there is a chance that they will also ask for a new one right away or send your application back as incomplete (though I highly doubt they will as the cases I have read state that they were returned their applications only when the forms were outdated or severely incomplete or missing).
