Hi all

I am about to apply for CEC in few weeks.

But, I just got my FBI report and it says, Arrested or Recieved 1999

Charge of 1- 8 USC 1251 Deportation process

Will this affect on applying for CEC?

YEAH, I THINK IT WILL AFFECT UR APPLICATION. IN ORDER TO QUALIFY, U NEED A VALID POLICE CLEARANCE WITH RECORD OF NO INFORMATION. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp.
WAIT FOR SENIORS TO SUGGEST OPTIONS FOR U

Thanks for the heads up.

I guess I forgot to mention that I never got convicted as criminal. It has to do with my visa status though. :(

Hello all,
I have a similar question.
I was held in custody by US immigration in 1990 while attempting to cross the border, never deported. Just left the US voluntarely 3 years later after going to court, the judge kept giving us extentions to remain in the US legaly.
My FBI record came with this insident but I was a minor in 1990 (15 years old).

My record was recieved in Buffalo this March - will this affect our application?

Thank you!

If you disclosed the information on your application and the FBI report corroborates it, you should relax and wait. Besides, if you get PR status obviously you won't be trying to cross a border illegally. They will be in touch if they need clarifications.

Gracias Señoritabella!!
I did mention in our application that I lived in the US for 3 years as a teenager with the full information on dates, address and studies. I don´t recall indicating I had been in that specific situation in 1990 as I never considered that a crime, in my view we were just detained. We were allowed to live in US legaly, my family decided to return voluntarily.
I have many entries to the US the last couple of years (for work), I even had my US visa renewed 2 weeks ago.

I trust CIC considers that I was not under my oun judgement in those years, when I was 15 years old, I was follwing my parents ideas...

Regards!
