Hi
I am planning to apply for PR soon. However, there is one thing that we all should a criminal record from the FBI.
In my case, I was in the US on a student visa and changed the status to B2 visitor visa. While on visitor visa a worked for 4 months paying taxes and so on. I left the 2 months before my visitor visa was expiring. Will this affect my PR application and will the FBI put that 4-month work on my FBI police clearance record? I have not been arrested, deported or committed any crime in the US

Please share if you have some knowledge on the matter.

Thanks a lot

Is this clearance letter a standard for the permanent residency application? I didn't see it on the check lists.

All foreign nationals applying for Permanent Residency are required to provide PCCs.

Which checklists are you looking at?

I see it now - sorry!

Question about that. I'm a Canadian citizen and my husband is a US citizen who is currently active duty in the Air Force but will be getting out in summer of 2017 when we will be moving to Canada. Due to being in the Air Force, he has lived in a couple countries however he's been there under NATO orders so, for example, for his time in Portugal there isn't any record of him being in the country while he was there. Would a military criminal record check (which shows every little thing possible) suffice?

I'm currently residing in US and applying for PR for Canada. Is is necessary to submit a PCC only from FBI? Since it takes a long time to get a PCC from the FBI can we submit a PCC from the local Police department, And write a letter of explanation ? Will that work?

Yes - it's necessary. No - local police certificate won't work. FBI cert is mandatory.

Thank you for your reply.
Will the letter of explanation work with the receipt number showing I have applied for the PC from the FBI and have still not received it?

It really depends how you are applying. You need to ask in the appropriate section of the forum (e.g. Express Entry, Family Sponsorship, etc.).

Okay thank you so much
Also I wanted to know after they ask for your passport in how many days you need to go to Canada to
