FBI and State Police Clearance Questions

Hi All,

I am in process of submitting documents for my PR. As I stayed in USA (New Jersey) for three years I have to get Police clearance from there. I have following questions regarding that. It would be great if anybody could help me on this.

1. I assume I need a verification clearance from FBI and NJ state police. Or only FBI is enough?
2. I stayed in USA from 2010 to 2013 Jan. After that I went back to India applied for a FBI verification certificate and got it during 2014 January. Can I use that same certificate now in my PR application OR Do I need to get a new one again? Is there any expiry time for this? After 2013 Jan, I just had a stop over (6 hours duration) while I traveled from Canada to India. No long time stay.

If you no longer leave in the US then only FBI summary check will do.

Some members say if you left US then PCC certificate has no validity period, however, I believe that it has a validity of 1 year - so in your case get a new one, it takes 3 months now to get issued, so hurry up.
