I am a CDN citizen and I got married last month in South Korea, my wife is here with me as a visitor and we are applying for her immgiration. My question is, on the application for my wife, should we state her address as my current Toronto address or her address in South Korea? Not sure, thanks in advance

Hi Charlissimo

You can give her address in Toronto as her current address. However, keep in mind that all mail will be coming from the visa office and everything you need to submit will have to be sent to the visa office... that means you may get some delays in things going back and forth so far. If you've got someone VERY reliable in South Korea who can handle the mail for you it may make things faster.

We've given an address in South Africa instead of our actual address because we felt it would be more reliable... bit annoying to rely on someone else to open things etc but I think it did save us some time and money on couriers etc. We included an explanation as to why the mailing address we have given them is not our actual residential address.

i am living in Pakistan and my wife who is my cousin she is living in Canada. by birth.and our marriage is done on telephone..she send me sponsorship papers.

i want to know some questions...
my wife is sponsoring me..i want to know that my wife can be also representative of me..

my 2nd question is !!
i want to know that a representative and Sponsor can be ??

and 3rd question is!!
does telephone marriage is acceptable in Canada.

i shall be very thankful to you...

bilawal - not sure what you mean by can she be your representative... you need to sign all the documents yourself. you can then assign your sponsor as a representative so that she can contact immigration on your behalf to inquire about the application but that isn't really generally necessary.

Canada accepts any legal marraige with a legal marraige certificate. But, immigration is very strict about proof that the relationship is genuine. That means you need to submit loads of evidence for the development of the relationship and give explanation as to why the marraige was done by phone rather than in person. If the immigration officer feels that the marraige was entered into primarily for the purpose of immigration your application will be rejected.

dear waitingintz..

i live in Pakistan and my wife who is my cousin she lives in Canada. My marriage is done on telephone..and Pakistan embassy is in ISLAMABAD..but some one told me that Islamabad embassy reject the telephone marriage..they take this marriage as a proxy marriage..my wife will be submitted our case in Canadian embassy.and when my case will come in Islamabad embassy then? that's why i am worried about it. so tell me what i do now??

is it legal to marry your cousin in Canada? Better check that out first

For a marriage to be legally valid for immigration, it has to be legal in Canada and legal in the country where it was done. It is legal to marry your cousin in Canada (though unusual). Is a marriage done over the phone legal in Pakistan? If yes, your application can be accepted.
