What are peoples experiences of the 2nd stage application process for family class sponsorships (common law), the CIC website is currently showing 11 months for the London visa office is it actually taking this long/longer to hear a definitive answer? First stage took around 1 week to be approved instead of 55 days.

You can check the spreadsheet for your visa office to get an idea:

this is impossible. when did you submit your application? even if a few months ago processing times for sponsorship approval were at around 28 days, that's still a lot more than "1 week"

are you sure you received information about sponsorship approval in that one week, as in a decision was made on the sponsor and your application was forwarded to your visa office? If so, when was your application delivered? when did you receive Sponsorship approval?

As the other poster mentioned, it seems pretty unusual since between march and now the processing time has gone up dramatically. you are the only applicant to report approval in one week's time.

I think there WAS a quick turnaround at one point. I think this was also before the recent consolidation of offices and the other delays that caused a considerable backlog in processing. so to me it just seems very unlikely this has happened recently. Who knows, if it was between march and now (my point of reference)... he can very well be 1 lucky guy.
