Hope this helps applicants who have applied on or after 6th December 2017.
processing time given:
12 months including AIP, Initial assessment and Eligibility.

Paper application included all the documentations compiled and arranged meticulously as per the guidelines. Medical report and Police clearance included with the package.
**upfront medical report could be a gamble as I have seen applicants getting requests to re-do the medical. So, If you already have one which is still valid, include it. OR wait for the request**

Here's the timeline for our application so far:
  • Application rcv'd by CPC Mississauga: 6th March 2017
  • Processing started: 22nd March 2017
  • AOR: 23rd March 2017
  • Additional information: Schedule A: Jan 5th 2018 ( sent through email- they somehow managed to lose the e-mail. Why not! )
  • Applied for an ATIP request ( just for the heck of it)
  • Additional information: Schedule A: 15th Feb. 2018: Round two! Documents sent via Webform)
  • CAS update: 22nd May 2018 -from Application received to DM.
  • Received a letter stating Eligibility passed (for person being sponsored)
  • Inland Landing Letter Email rcv'd : 25th May 2018.

*awaiting a response from IRCC for an appointment and COPR.

Meanwhile, the sponsor never received any Correspondence from CPC/IRCC. Call centre agent said that the sponsor should have received a SA but never got sent. damn youuu...kept us hanging..

Its been a crazy year so far. Our lives put down in a chart form, losing our shit while filling out the forms, trying to figure out how to arrange the papers, feeling proud about figuring out what was supposed to be done, sending the package in a void, waiting for a long time.

Anyone considering applying under the Spouse or common law partner in Canada Class, Please make sure you:
  • Read the Application Guideline over and over again.
  • Make most of the checklist provided.
  • Get your spouse and/or a friend to Proofread.
  • DON'T fuck up the dates in your personal, education or employment history columns.
  • Arrange the documents as stated in the guideline.
  • SIGN your INITIALS. Dont miss that. Case processing agents have no time for that. They go through 1500 pages in an 8hour shift. They ll just send your application back.
  • Make most of the Call centre. You can find most of the answers through them. Be Patient and Polite.
  • PROOFREAD yourself. TWICE, THRICE.
  • Start your PCC process just when you are about to send in your application.
  • If you do mess up with your personal documents, forget to include something or you figured out there was an error on Page 6 blah blah, USE the Online Webform. Include an explanation and attach the file (>2MB)
  • Track your application through CAS. That's the most accurate. your CIC profile is the last thing that gets updated.
  • Track your application through ATIP requests if you wanna be nosy.
  • If there's something really fishy, contact your local MP's constituency office for URGENT help.
  • keep your Explanations to the point. AD REM. Don't write a thesis.
