I have one question in regards to the family information for my wife that will be applying for permanent residency in Canada. She will be the only one coming and we have no dependents or children. In the immigrants guide it says that the "Background/Declaration - IMM 0008 Schedule 1" and "Additional Family Information - IM 5406" must be completed by each of her family members that are over 18 accompanying her or not. After reading this I assumed that her mother, father and siblings would ALL have complete their own copy of this form.

But then, on the first page of the "Background/Declaration" it says that "the principle applicant, his or her spouse or common-law partner, and all dependent children over 18 years of age listed in the application for permanent residence must complete their own copy of this form." So this is saying that if she has no kids and I am her husband, then no-one else needs to do this, because it doesn't say that her mother, father, brother and sister must complete it.

Also, on page 2 of the "Generic IMM 0008 - Application for Permanent Residence in Canada" it says she must provide photos and details for all family members, but then also says "You must include your spouse or common-law, and all of your dependent children that aren't already residents or citizens of Canada." So this, again is implying that it doesn't need to include her mother, father, brother or sister.

So in the application forms, when it refers to her "family" does it only include partners (spouse, common-law) and children? It is rather vauge with what is family.

Thanks,

1. As her parents nor siblings are included in the Application, then only she completes the schedule 1. Only her photos and only she completes the IMM 5406.

Thanks.

So in the main application she only needs her photo and she doesn't need photos or info for anyone else because I am her husband and she has no kids? Then she is the only one that does the background/declaration and the additional family information?

So the only place where she needs to mention her mother, father, and siblings is when she fills out her "Additional Family Info," where is asks for their names, marital status, address etc?

That is correct :)
