Eye Exam for refugee claimant

Hi,
I am a refugee claimant and living in Toronto. My eyes are giving me problem and I wanted to have them checked before it get worse. Does anyone know where is a good place for Refugee claimants to do this exam? I contacted some optometrist they will charge me between $150-$250, is it normal?

Yes - this rate is normal.

I would contact this website and ask if they have recommendations. They may have doctors that are willing to help.

Also, check your local Wal-Mart. A lot of them have Eye Centers and their exams are usually cheaper than stand alone doctors. I had mine done there (years ago) for $60.
