Extremely urgent! Help please:(

I am ready to send of extension application today but if I can wait until Monday it would be so much better as I have extra documentation for successful application hopefully...does cic go by the date of application sent from post office or do they go by delivery stamp date? My husbands status expires on the 13th. Please do I have time to courier prefebly Monday???? Please someone get back to me asap

It's the date the application is physically received by CIC in their mailroom.

So why was I told that it goes by the date it was sent by numerous members of the forum? in fact much of my worry was alleviated by knowing this through other members. So now I have a horrible rush to courier before 3 today ..... Extremely worried now

CIC always go by the physically received date. If this was not the case, things like the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship applications processing would be a nightmare. They would have to decipher post marks and shipment dates on each package to decide which order to accept applications in.

You were told in this thread that you should have your application physically with CIC by the 12th to be safe:

You really need to stop worrying and just relax.

Why don't you just apply online? Much easier and no worries about having to mail it.

If you do decide to mail a paper app, CIC will go by the postmark on the application. As long as you mail it by Sept 11th, it's FINE. It's your choice whether to courier it or not. Canada Post offers next day or 2 day services.

Do NOT send a restoration request; you would only cause confusion with the app.

CIC has never gone by the "postmarked" date that would be absolutely ridiculous. That person gave you bad advice.

If I were you, I'd overnight the package. Like Ponga said, I'd want it to be there May 12th... I know for my PR application, it was physically received via tracking Sept 22nd, but on ECAS it shows Sept 23rd.

If you end up mailing it before you finish the PR application, tell them that you're mailing your PR application May XX 2015 and include a copy of the receipt of fees paid, or whatever you have, really.

S o just got off phone with post office... It's the weekend soothing goes out until Monday. Thatgivesme2 days i can send extension by courier and she said it should arrive on Wednesday ( husbands status expiry date . As long as it arrives that day it should be ok am incorrect?

I would apply online but I don't have proper computer or scanner. I'm currently on an iPad. The stress of all of this is starting to take its toll and we have only started this hell of a journey...

Correction ,... We are mailing out extension not PR as we are waiting on the last documents. We will be sending out pr end of month.....

Take a big deep breath! Got any friends or family with a computer and a scanner? I know here in Vancouver there are tons of little businesses I've done this type of stuff at - scanning, printing, uploading, etc.. PostNet, it was called - they didn't even charge me for using the computer (well, not until after 15 minutes. Even then, it was still very cheap).
