Hi Guys,

Question: Seasonal Work on the Farm Program linked to one employer. He would like to remain in Canada. There is no work offer. He is single and not looking to marry anyone to stay, or to reside common law. Suggestions if he should at least try to extend his Visa and change.....Thanks

If he wants to stay longer then he would need to apply to change his status to visitor.

His attempts to remain permanently in Canada will have an impact on his ability to get hired through the farmworker program again. Does he actually qualify for anything other than a TRV? Assume he wants to stay longterm not just on vacation.

Hey Canuck78.....I asked him what he did back home and it was farming as well so nothing other than that. And you are right, he wants to stay longer but his options would only be a change to visitor (if it is approved) and then maybe he would need to meet someone and make a long term plan with that person then file if common law or married. That's the best I can think of. Although I did wonder if he got extended and actually left, would he be able to come back on the farm program after that.

What is he going to do for money? You can't just live in Canada as a visitor and hope to get married before you get deported. Not a good plan.

He has funds. And although not a good plan we know this does happen. Thanks

What if he doesn't get a TRV? The chances are not the best. He is looking at minimum 1.5 years without the ability to work legally. His situation also screams immigration fraud.
