I want to apply to extend my sister’s stay in Canada for more than first legal 6 months. If she get approved, that means she can stay for another 6months?
In general is it recommended to extend or is it better to leave and come back? Is it usually acceptable case or it’s risky?
We are doing that since she wants to attend to a conference that will happen beyond her first 6 months of stay.

- It's better to apply for an extension from within Canada
- How long an extension she is given will be up to IRCC. She may be given six months or she may be given less.

Thanks for replying. The proccess time is 214 days I guess, but the event will happned a month after her first legal 6 momths. So we will hear from IRCC after the the date she want to attend the event( She is extending because of an event). So how we can convince IRCC when they find about our reasons later than the happening day?
Usually is it a normal case for visitors to extend their stay, or is it risky? She can leave and come back, but it’s about the cost of travel, it will be a lot of money to leave and come back.
