Out of curiosity, how do we check the status of the extension of stay application. We submitted 30 days before the expiry of my husbands passport but we still have not heard anything and it has been well over 2 months now. We are going to send his outland application in at the end of this month but should we be worried about not hearing back regarding his extension of stay.......

I too ran into this problem, and was unable to find a way to check the status. Instead, I just waited (It was horrible!) I believe that it took around 3 months to get my extension in the mail.

If you're a US citizen with no criminal record and means to support yourself (or, someone is offering to support you) you should be approved with no problem. :)

Phew makes me feel much better knowing that I'm not the only one out there with this concern. Thank you very much!!!

Yes, I wouldn't recommend even trying to check the status. I filed my application online, and got my extension in the mail two months later. I was never emailed, and nothing changed on my online status. I checked it after I received my visa; nothing.
Like the above post, don't worry, you'll almost certainly be approved. Just don't expect anything for two months, at least.

My fiancee has a multiple entry tourist visa that is valid for the next 3 years. When he comes to Canada, how long is he allowed to stay in Canada at one time, is it 3-6 months? or will the visa officer decide that?
So even if his tourist visa is still valid, can we apply for an extension of stay meaning that he can stay in Canada with me longer than the 3 months that the visa officer may give him? We are hoping to wait together during the outland PR process.

Usually 6 months, but that's entirely up to the officer.

Once he's here in Canada, you can apply to extend online easily with 75 dollars.
