so all in all, my extension just got refused and I'm not sure for what reason.

I arrived here on April the 27th and they gave me up to Aug the 31st to figure things out.

I have a place to live and I am supported by my partner and her family, we have a serious commitment and have planed for me to live with her for the past 4 years. I haven visited twice canada before and she has visited over also.

but basically my partners parents paid the fees for the extension, showed proof of financial support, wrote a letter. I also told them that my objective was to work and live in canada with my partner.

I just got a letter on the 8th, and my application was refused! i'm not sure why...

I really need help, I want to stay and live here with my girlfriend. we had thought of marriage for years, but we know there are conditions with that route. though it may be an option at this point.

it also says i can apply for restoration. this is fine too.. money isn't an issue really.

I just want to stay here with my partner, i'm also trying to get a job, but thats at full stop now because of my extension being refused

I have till Oct the 31st, if anyone could help me in any way or give me some sort of guild, i'll be very much appreciative!

I believe that applying for a restoration to your status is your only option now (other than leaving by October 31st). I don't have any experience with restoration orders. But my response will bump your threat to the top and hopefully others will be able to help.

As for why you were refused, what did you say in your extension? Did you just say that you wanted to live in Canada with your partner and were looking for work? Or did you add anything about working toward common law status and working on a permanent resident application? If you just said the first, then it's probably not surprising your request for an extension was rejected. I don't think this is sufficient grounds for extending your stay. If you're looking to make Canada your home, CIC typically wants to see evidence that you're putting together a PR application (i.e. to legalize your status).

Good luck.

I will go down today and pay the restoration.. I'm not a 100% sure what a restoration is, but i'm sure i will find out when i go down and apply!

what you said actually makes complete sense, i'm very new to this, so i guess i wasn't specific enough in details. so i can see what the issue was now..

and we may be heading on more to apply for civil partnership, [my girlfriend & i planned to marry on oct the 31st, but that kinda changed when the extension wasn't accepted] which again im not sure on what to do. i also want to apply for permanent residency. my girlfriend says she would much prefer to sponsor me.
which would be the right steps to take considering the info above?

we are legit on all of this, but we know the government are usually weary on this route due to other cases. I just don't want to mess anything up, due to not knowing etc.

if you want to extend your stay as visitor your are not allowed to work anywhere in canada. Even if they approve your extension. Now its refused so you have to leave canada. Bec if you dont you will have a record and then if your gf wants to sponsor in the future it might affect your application. Restoration only applies to when your visa is expired before you apply for extension and waiting for the decision. In your case your refused. Sorry you really have to leave. Or i suggest get a lawyer before you leave.

i wasn't told this, when i came here as a visitor they said at the office i could get a job as long as i got an imo etc. i didn't push forward on this since i was waiting for the extension, i did mention however on the application that this was one of my goals in the future.

i am guessing that i will have to go home, i don't want to make things more complicated, i want to do this all legal and all, i do really want to stay or come back. im just unsure of the direction to go in.

so will i have to pay for the restoration and leave?
