Extending Working Holiday Visa

Hi, I have a question that's been haunting me this past year.

Basically, I came to Canada in August 2016 to authorise my work visa before going back to the UK in September 2016 to begin a post graduate degree.

I'm at the end of my degree now and plan to come back to Canada next mid-month, and I was wondering about the possibility of extending my visa if I happened to settle from now until it's due to expire in August 2018?

I guess it was my own decision to leave and pursue my studies at home, though I really have my heart set on beginning a career in Canada and the possibility of permanent residency in the future.

Have I completely messed up or is there a way I could extend my stay?

Thanks in advance!

It's use it or lose it. There's no way to extend the validity of a working holiday visa.

If you want to remain in Canada and work longer, you would need to secure a job offer from an employer along with an approved LMIA so that you can apply for a closed work permit.
