hello I have a question for y'all

My husband is here in Canada visiting me. While he was here we completed the Outland application and are currently waiting for AOR.

My husband has decided to extend his visit as his 6 month mark is almost up.

Do you think there will be any issues to extend the visitor status? And typically how long can you extend for?

Any and all responses are most appreciated. :)

You should be fine. I was able to extend visitor visa with no issues most of the time. Sometimes they can give you one year extension. Make sure it is done before the first one expires.

When you apply to extend do they ask you the reason why you want to extend...or ask for any documents?

Anyone any advice or information on extending visitor visa who can shed some light.

Do they ask reason you're extending.
How long do thy typically allow for.

Please any help would be more appreciated

We got the first one for 6 months and then renewed and they just gave us another year. I can't remember what we put for the first one but the second one we included a note explaining we were soon submitting our PR spousal app

A lot of stuff has changed ever since I did visitor visa. I did it back in 2011. Here is a link to cic webpage where the forms are located.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visitor.asp

search for form IMM5708E to extend the visitor visa. It will give you instructions and what is needed. It is pretty straightforward. They don't ask the reason why you are extending.
The minimum time they will extend is for 6 months. Not sure how long they will extend for.

Thanks for your responses.

We are hoping to extend for one year. So not sure if that will be an issue.

Also I see you have to indicate financials. Would that be mine since I say I'll be supporting him while he is here. Or is this his own banking details from his home country where it shows he can support himself.

You can ask for a year. Include proof of the PR app.

If he has sufficient savings to support a one year extension, then show his bank statements. If it isn't enough, include your payslips and statement as well.
