Hello,

I arrived in Canada on October 26 and I started an English for academic purposes course on October 28. I've already been accepted for a diploma starting on January 6 at the same college but the problem is that my student visa is valid until January 21. I have to extend it but I can't start the process right now because I have to wait until the end of the course to get a letter saying I approved it, and that is until December 19. I'm worried about it because I've read that the waiting time to get the new visa or study permit i is more than 30 days and my program starts the first week of January, what should I do?

If tou have been accepted you can apply now, did you get a letter of admission for the next course?

Yes, I have a letter of admission for the next course, but someone told me I needed to wait until the end of the course to get a letter saying that I approved. Is that letter really necessary to start the process of extending it?

Nothing to worry about. If you have a study permit and are applying for an extension, you can continue studying on Implied Status after your current permit expires.

You can apply now with acceptance letter.
