Extending PGWP

Hello guy. I finished 2 year program on 2017's September and applied post graduation work permit on November. At that time there was 10 months from my passport expiration date. They aproved my work permit but because of my passport exp. date it was just for 8 months. Can I renew my passport and apply it for extending for 2 year and 4 months (which completes it 3 year) or did I ruined my chance of PGWP. Help me please

Renew your passport and do the same PGWP application again for the remaining balance.

My visa and passport end soon. If I stay in Canada at that time is it gonna be illegal or not. I heard I can apply in 90 days for extending it, is it right?
