Extending Open Work Permit

Hi, I want to extend my open work permit, but I'm in a bit of a strange situation.

I am currently on a Post Graduate Work Permit that expires in October. I was offered a new job which I start this coming Monday and I was wondering if it is possible to extend my work permit and what would I need for it? This is because I am looking to apply for PR, but if my permit expires in October, there is no way I can get a year in on my new job to apply. Thank you.

Your employer needs to get an approved LMIA for you to extend.

Question, a friend of mine has his work permit coming to an end in December 2021 but job offer expires 2023. He currently has an application in for TP to PR with no response at the moment, and he has four kids and his wife. what is the process? do they all need to fill out the IMM5710e
