Extend your stay in Canada, Visitor Record applied, but no result yet; can i go back to home country early (before the result comes out)?

Hello Members,

I applied Visitor Record for my wife in early September, 2021; except an email from cic in early November saying "We're still working on your application", nothting new has showed up (or say, status changed) since then.

Now we encountered some family matters, it is best for her to return to our home country in January or February, 2022. Suppose the application result would not come out until June, 2022, can she return to home country now? or she has to wait for the visitor record application result coming out first?

By the way, how to consult the cic about the application status? through which channels?

By the way, her visitor visa expired in June already. If her visa is still valid and long before exipiration, i guess it is ok for her to go back now and come to Canada again, even the visitor record application is still being processed.

I know something from 10 years ago, I applied for visitor record extention for 2 months extra on someones visa, and we never got responce, left normally no questions. Supprisingly 1 whole year later I go a response that the extention was approved.
