Hello everyone, my parents are in Canada on Visitor Visa (1 year visa -multiple entries) and we would like to extend there stay so they can be with my one year old kid. Is it possible that they can considered for the extension? And will there extension effect there record, or hinder the process when we will be applying for their super visa, or visitor visa (once the current is expired) please advise if anyone is aware about this. I am so confused because some have told us that it will effect their record might not be able to get canadian visa a second time.

If they only received a 1 year visa there were concerns about their application and whether they would leave. If not given the full 10 years that usually means they were given a trial visa to see whether they would return home. Do you mean they’re coming close to visiting for 6 months? How much longer do they want to visit for? When would they like to visit in the future? They should be to reestablishing ties to their home country before to visit again. They can’t legally care for your child or that would be considered working illegally.

Thank you for your reply! And yes there 6 months period is going to be over on nov.13 and planning to extend the stay for 2-3 months until january or february. And then will return to home country. We will apply for their Super Visa, or Visitor visa in April/May 2023. So do you think its not a wise decision to request extension for stay?

Should be fine to request another extension. Remember to advise IRCC when they leave since they won’t probably hear about their extension request before they leave due to huge backlogs. Would suggest they wait a little bit longer to reestablish ties to their home country before applying for a supervisa if they only returned to their home country in February or at least wait until May. They are still visitors so shoukd still be spending the majority of their time in their home country. Once they get a supervisa they will be able to visit for longer as long as they are able to qualify for supervisa insurance every year.

Yes, they can certainly apply to extend their entry. Note that they need to apply to extend before they hit the six month mark of being in Canada (not 1 year).

There's no impact to future visas.
