Extend my visitors visa while applying?

Hey friendly folks!
I'm a German, married to a Canadian who's sponsoring me to stay in this wonderful country. I'm currently here on a visitor visa that runs out in January.. do I have to extend my stay, even though I've applied for my PR? Currently I am also trying to obtain an OWP, but who knows if that'll work out!

Did you submit an Inland application, or an Outland application? If Inland, did you include the OWP with the Inland application? If you did, you'll be covered under Implied Status.


An Inland application qualifies you for the OWP, but an Outland application (even if you're in Canada) would not...although it would be processed much faster.

Your PR application alone does not extend your status. If you have submitted an Inland application (alone) and are asking if you should/can submit an OWP now, the answer is yes. That will be enough to allow you to remain in Canada after your visitor status expires. Be sure to pay the full/correct amount for the OWP ($255).
