When I made the entry, I had calculated the score myself. This is the score according to EE.

In my passport (issued in India), my

Surname is blank and
Given name is FARZAN AHMED.

When I am trying to fill express entry profile. it is not letting me leave the surname column blank.


1. I found the instructions from CIC FAQ where there is no surname listed on the passport :-

"What do you mean by surname?

Your surname is your family name. It is sometimes called your “last name.” If your name is spelled differently on your official documents, please write your name as shown in your passport. When filling out applications, type your surname as it appears on your passport, travel or identity document or any letters you got from the visa office or case processing centre where you sent your application (even if the name is misspelled). Do not use initials.

If you do not have a surname on your passport, travel or identity document, enter all your given name(s) in the surname field, write “not applicable” or “N/A” in the given name field."

After reading the CIC instructions I put "Not Applicable" in surname column but then system update my name as "Farzan Ahmed Not Applicable" and showing everywhere the same name as told above.

Now I dont understand what to do....if I leave it blank then it shows error as mandatory column...., Write not applicable in that field, it will show up as "FARZAN AHMED NOT APPLICABLE" in a given name.

WILL CIC ACCEPT IT LIKE THIS Huh?
Plz Help ......................................!! ???

You did the exact opposite that the CIC asked for. You do NOT put the not not applicatble in the surname field. You put the "Not Applicable" in the given name field and your name, Frazan Ahmed, in the surname field. That should work.

I see 2 entries with score less then 450 and they still got ITA.
entry number 517 khrishnawinnie - noc 1114- score 413 - got ITA.
entry number 973 PR- noc 5122 - score 355- got ITA.

My understanding is that lowest score for which CIC sent ITA was 450 as of date. How would these people get ITA. Anybody- any idea?
Is it by chance cause of skill shortage?

I have applied for PR on 12/Nov/2015 and the rest as follows:
23/Feb/2016 --> background check in progress
2/Mar/2016 --> PPR
5/Mar/2016 --> sent passports
11/Mar/2016 --> decision made
12/Mar/2016 --> received passports
