A lot of things announced so far on the Express Entry (to begin Jan 2015) are still quite vague, to the point where I feel the CIC has yet to finish the final touch on the new system.

My biggest question though is the following:

**Once the current immigration system is converted to the Express Entry in Jan 2015, and I did not get the invitation to apply (ITA), what is my option at that point?**

Do I get to apply in a different stream (that is, non-Express Entry) at that time?
Will there even be such thing as a non-Express Entry system for people who are not highest qualified candidates?

It appears that the Express Entry will only favor the "highest qualified candidate" (this has yet to be defined in terms of skills, language proficiency, or the job), and the ones that are not highest qualified candidates may not even get a chance to apply.

That is the whole point of this change. Not everybody will qualify, hence reducing the burden on CIC in processing the applications in a timely manner. It is unlikely that there will be non-express entry pathway for PR applications since everything from PNPs to CECs will be incorporated in this system. And the only way to ensure you will be invited to apply if applying from outside Canada, it seems is to get a job offer or a provincial nomination.

I don't think the current applicants will be moved to express entry system. New system will be introduced to new applicants and current applicants will be processed under current applicable rules.
Also it appears that processing will little different . Selected applicants will receive an ITA and non-selected ones will just remain in the pool and wait for their turn so there is no rejection or denial at this stage. Currently as per cic, the only factor to get ITA is by getting a job offer.

Thanks for the replies to both Namaste & pk2ca.

My guess (and I could be wrong) that, if I did not receive an invitation to apply (ITA) the first time, my chance of getting one in the future would be very low just by remaining in the pool.

Two more questions if I may - I would really appreciate your educated advise.

1. Will the CIC only take Economic Stream via the Express Entry?
It was announced that a portion of PNP will also be under the Express Entry. Does that mean the majority of PNP will still operate as is?

2. I am currently in Canada working in a skilled level (B level) job. If I obtain a provincial nomination & an ongoing job offer, would that be sufficient?

Quite frustrating that there are just way too many uncertainties surrounding the new Express Entry....

It doesn't look that way....if you are already here, why wait ? Do you qualify under CEC or PNP ?

1. After 1 year, your EOI would be deleted from the pool.
